You'll travel through remote parts of Australia's outback, where medical facilities can be difficult to access and mobile coverage may be intermittent. Let friends and family know you may be out of contact during the trip. Your guides carry satellite phones for emergencies.
Yes. This tour requires an excellent level of fitness and mobility. Be prepared for walks of around 3–12 km per day over uneven terrain, sometimes in hot conditions, as well as long travel days in remote areas.
Yes. You'll be expected to lend a hand with simple shared tasks such as setting up camp, preparing meals and cleaning up. Your guide will take care of most meal preparation, but group participation is an important part of the experience.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and coeliac, dairy-free and no-pork requirements can be accommodated. You must advise the tour operator of any special dietary requirements or food allergies at least 72 hours before departure. Because food is purchased before the trip begins, requests cannot be accommodated once the tour has departed.
An all-season sleeping bag is required. You can bring your own or purchase one for $75. A sleep sheet is optional and may be useful during warmer summer nights.
Most campgrounds offer access to power for charging devices, but access can vary between stops. Bringing a power bank is recommended to help keep your devices charged.
Smoking and drinking alcohol are prohibited inside the tour vehicle. Alcohol is permitted at campsites, although your guide can limit consumption. Illegal drugs are not permitted in the vehicle, and breaches of the tour's safety rules may result in removal from the trip without a refund.
Your guide monitors local conditions, including weather, traffic and group needs, and may adjust the itinerary to help maintain comfort and safety. Outback weather can change suddenly, and hikes may be scheduled earlier during hotter months to avoid peak temperatures.
