Agnes Water - Things to do

Agnes Water is a small town in Queensland, located 500 kilometers north of Brisbane. Agnes Water has a population of just over 2,200, and a tropical climate year-round. This township can be a starting point of your adventure on the Great Barrier Reef since the legendary reef chain isn’t far away!

Despite its modest size, Agnes Water actually offers several scenic spots and enjoyable activities. You can take a tour in 1770 Distillery, catch some sun rays at Agnes Beach, or soak up the magical atmosphere at the Paperbark Forest Boardwalk.

The Red Rock Walking Trail is another panoramic place to stretch your legs. Look out for turtles on the beach and keep an eye on the water, as migrating whales might pass by to greet you!

It’s also worth undertaking a trip to nearby Seventeen Seventy, a small settlement with excellent walking trails and a gorgeous lookout point at Bustard Bay, where you can watch the ocean’s waves crashing onto the rocky shoreline.

With so many small islands just off the coast in the Coral Sea, Agnes Water is an excellent base for a castaway island adventure. During a courageous trip, you’ll temporarily get to live like a shipwrecked person, including back-to-basics camping and fun water activities!

The world’s most extensive reef system, the Great Barrier Reef, can easily be reached from Agnes Water. The Great Barrier Reef is praised for its unmatched biodiversity, stunningly beautiful coral gardens, and endless opportunities to do island-hopping.

Here, you can consider taking a scenic flight over the atolls, join a sailing tour through the archipelagos of the Great Barrier Reef, and have a close-up look at all the wonderful creatures of the Coral Sea during a dive tour at the Outer Reefs.

Up your sailing game by boarding the Atlantic Clipper for a full-on adventure in Australia’s picture-perfect islands, including diving, snorkelling, and on-board partying!

If you can’t get enough of the alluring underwater world, you might as well want to join an overnight liveaboard in the Great Barrier Reef. This trip includes six dives, so you’ll have a proper impression of the unique reefs.
